Updated: Aug 20, 2023

We would like to extend our deepest condolences to the Jackson family upon the loss of Janice Jackson. In 2018 Janice and her husband Bill were made honorary lifetime members of the Southern Indiana Angus Association after many faithful years of membership and service to the association.

Janice Clevenger Jackson, 86, a resident of Hope, Indiana, passed from this life at 4:47 p.m. Friday, August 4, 2023, at Our Hospice of South Central Indiana Inpatient Facility.

Mrs. Jackson was a 1955 graduate of Anderson High School in Anderson, Indiana, and a 1958 graduate of Ball State University where she also received a Masters Degree in Elementary Education. She was inducted into a teacher’s honorary society at Ball State and was the president of her Alpha Omicron Pi Sorority there. Janice taught at McDowell, Fodrea and Rockcreek schools. Many children benefited from her bright smile and care in Anderson, Burney and Columbus. She retired after 26 ½ years of service.

She was a member of East Columbus United Methodist Church where she served as youth director and on various committees. She has recently attended The Ridge Church. She was a member of the Flower Lane Garden Club where she served as secretary, vice-president, and president at various times; the Bartholomew County Retired Teacher Association; and Delta Kappa Gamma, a teacher’s honorary sorority. It was rewarding to her to watch her own four children and those children she taught grow into caring productive citizens. She enjoyed attending her children’s school activities and watching them compete in athletics as well as showing Angus cattle over the years. She dearly loved her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.

Born July 8, 1937, Mrs. Jackson was the daughter of Lester and Lillian Clevenger of Anderson, Indiana. She married William G. Jackson on June 7, 1958. Survivors include her husband, William; children, Debra (Gary) Davis, Kim (Kip) Bonnell, Mark (Lori) Jackson and Greg Jackson all of near Columbus, Indiana; grandchildren, Tyler (Caitie) Jackson, Connor (Becca) Bonnell, Kendall (Brian) Wichman, Kayla (Brandon) Henry, Carly (Jacob) Stiver and Nash (Sarah) Jackson; great-grandchildren, Colt Henry, Remi Henry, Sailor Stiver, Carson Bonnell, Kennedy Bonnell, Reese Jackson, and Rylee Jackson; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins from Anderson, Indiana.
