Gracie Harris earns Junior Silver Award

Gracie Harris, Corydon, Ind., has earned the National Junior Angus Association’s (NJAA) Silver award, according to Caitlyn Brandt, events and junior activities director of the American Angus Association® in Saint Joseph, Mo.

Harris is the 11-year-old daughter of Eric and Natalie Harris and attends New Middletown Elementary School. She is a member of the NJAA and the Indiana Junior Angus Association.

She has participated in local, regional and national shows and showmanship contests. At the National Junior Angus Show (NJAS), Harris participated in the extemporaneous public speaking, livestock judging, team sales and photography contests. She also served as a voting delegate in 2024 and 2025 and was a participant in the 2026 mentoring program.

Harris has submitted DNA samples for Genomic Profile Testing through Angus Genetics Inc. (AGI) and has consigned cattle to the Southern Indiana Angus Sale.

The Silver award is the second level of the NJAA Recognition Program that began in 1972. Junior Angus breeders must apply for the award, then meet point requirements in many areas of participation before receiving the honor. Applicants are evaluated in areas of junior Angus association activities and leadership, participation in showmanship, contests and shows, using performance testing to improve their herd and their progress in producing and merchandising Angus cattle.
