I have always loved showing cows and being involved in the IJAA and am glad to have the chance to serve our association as the president for 2007. Last year will be a hard year to follow. We did a lot of hard work to get ready for the National Junior Angus Show. I had a blast being there, meeting new people, showing, and participating in the events that were held at the show such as the Cook-off. I know that a lot of people that I met from other states and even people from our own state had tons of fun and were appreciative of the amazing job that the all of the volunteers did in preparing for the show. However, I believe that without the National Junior Angus Show to prepare for, we will have a better chance to improve the association’s membership and participation. Although the IJAA is very large, there is still room for growth and improvement. If we work together, we can improve this already extraordinary association above and beyond everyone’s expectations.
We have an extremely valuable resource on the NJAA board, Kara Wilson. Kara worked very hard as an IJAA president for two terms and she won the election onto the NJAA board last year. She shows the rest of the nation that Indiana has a lot to offer and she will be able to relay back to us with some of the more recent news of the NJAA.
My main goal for this year is not to boost membership, but to increase the participation of our already existing members. Once most of our members start actively participating in shows and on committees, they will be more enthusiastic and will inspire more people to join the association.
I am looking forward to the new year and I hope all of you are too! I know that if we work together, we can get a lot accomplished and have a lot of fun along the way.
Sincerely,

Jake Saunders
IJAA President
